The Russian bookshop in Waterstones on Piccadilly is a delight.

This gallery area at the rear groundfloor of the flagship Waterstones store used to be the travel department, but has recently been converted into a Russian bookshop.  Clamber the spiral staircase and you enter another world.  There is a large selection of books in Russian, including a sizeable children’s section and a travel section.  In the far corner there are Russian works in English.

This store within a store has been sympatheically decorated to have a cosy, homely feel to it.  It seems popular with both Russians and students: Certainly, it has been busy every time I have popped in.  It is well worth a visit if you have any interest in Russia, its history or its literature.
